Dream = Reality : Step 1

That noise would be my heart beating very fast.

Plan Woolly…… has taken a significant step forward.

At Christmas time, the Figures, Arcadia (plus her hatchlings and her LongsufferingWonderfulHusband) went to look at  properties. (Yes – for my American friends, you could call it a Ranch. It’s not big enough to call it a station but a farm works as a noun.)

Arcadia and I looked at seven. The Committee (Parents, English Guests, Arcadia en familie) and I looked at two.

And for the past week I have been talking to the Real Estate Agent for one.

And……….

At 2o’clock AEST, my offer for the property Lanoak was accepted. Subject to finance approval.

To quote a former guinea pig : SQUEAK.

In terms of a birthday present to myself (ok… its a week or so away)  It’s a big one!!!

View from Lanoak

Ok.. the vital statistics are: 185 acres. 45 minutes to the Parentals house in Canberra. Two Sheds. No house (Yet).

And : more money than I have ever spent in one day *i feel ill!*

So the next stage is to convince the bank that I can pay off the mortgage. Followed by a lot of weekends putting up fences to keep in the ponies!! And planting trees. And the Garden M_F has in mind.

So we can have woolies. And the Macapacas. And the Fuzzigorabunnies.

And our own yarn!!!

This also means the $40 a day mohair habit is RIGHT out the window!!!

*deep breath*

Anyway.. today was also a demonstration of maintaining positivity in the face of the Grumblers.  We had a Toolbox Safety Meeting which included our Favourite Grumbles : “This is the Northern Territory, We don’t wear seatbelts”, “Breath Testing is Unfair because *Insert Illogical Reason here*” and “Management doesnt care which is why they’ve just spent X Thousand dollars on new Safety Equipment” and that old time favourite “There’s Porn on the Walls and We’re waiting to see how long until you tell us to take it down”.

Alyssa’s shawl is getting there…I’ve nearly finished the filet diamonds section. I would post a photo but my camera is sitting on my desk at work so it will have to wait for another night.

Right now.. it’s late so I am going to sleep thinking about owning my piece of Australia.

Goodnight and hugs to you all!!!

  6. SB&C, I am just gobsmacked. The place is utterly lover-ly and you will enjoy it so much! What’s this about angora – are you planning on breeding goats, rabbits or going back to wheeks? Just make sure that you have room to put up two Canadian visitors. Shall I bring my saddle along?? Let’s talk… 🙂 Congratulations.
