News for the Day – Truckies are on Strike
My prediction has come semi true – the Queensland and Long Distance Drivers unions are on strike.
It’s not Nationwide which has to be considered A Good Thing but the threat is for two weeks worth of disruption which could have some serious repercussions.
On a scale of one to ten, today rated a 2 for Safety (one of the contractors got donked on the head by a piece of high-tensile steel – not mine) and an A for Amusing when the Roofers, who despite me asking for the past THREE (count em…) weeks for the Method Statement for applying Said Roof BEFORE they commence applying Said Roof, protested when I stopped them working this morning.
Seriously – why do I need kids when I have 8 roofers working on the whole “But Muuuuuuuuuuuuuuum…. alll the *other* roofers…..” theme?
So, Kris – when your two girls think you’re the worst mother in the world – it could be worse!
For my fellow Safety Advisers – you’ll also laugh that their rescue plan just had the EMT’s phone number.
It’s been a while since we had a bird photo – so today we have one of our family of Sea Eagles
At least here there is wildlife – not as much as at TB 3 or the cockatoos of home but much better than the acidic world of TB G.
Another difference between TB G and TB C – The steel here is yellow and green, as opposed to the red. Black coal dust rather than red bauxite and white alumina.
I’m also making a small environmental statement. I’ve been involved in the consumption of a number of Avocados in the last few weeks.
(Bet at least one person is guessing ahead here)
And to cut a long story short…. in about a year someone may notice there is a small hedge of avocado trees growing….. along the grassy mound that I stand on to take the sunrise photos…..
I think it takes about 7 years for them to bear avocados and I don’t know what coal does to plants but hey 🙂
In other news – the baby afghan is making more ground, the temptation to start sidetracking items is being resisted (must resist shiny white thread….shiny… thread…...) Plan Wooly V 2is progressing but is going to take a slight detour – more about that in three weeks when we will be packing our bags and the Travelling Stash and heading ……..
hugs to you all!
